Mahakal Bhasm Aarti Darshan: किवदंतियों के अनुसार, पौराणिक काल में, उज्जैन नगरी में एक राक्षस नामक दुषण ने अत्याचार किया था। इस समस्या का समाधान पाने के लिए लोगों ने भगवान शिव से प्रार्थना की। भगवान शिव ने दुषण को मार दिया और फिर उनके आग्रह पर उज्जैन में महाकाल के रूप में बस गए।

मान्यता है कि भगवान भोलेनाथ ने दुषण के भस्म से अपने श्रृंगार किया था, इसलिए आज भी महादेव भस्म से श्रृंगारित किए जाते हैं। यह धर्मिक स्थल अद्वितीय है क्योंकि यहाँ पर भगवान शिव की पूजा दिन में छह बार की जाती है। हालांकि, दिन की शुरुआत भस्म आरती के साथ होती है, जिसमें भगवान शिव को भस्म से सजाया जाता है।

According to legends, during ancient times, a demon named Dushan wreaked havoc in the city of Ujjain. In response to this crisis, the people fervently prayed to Lord Shiva to rid them of this calamity. Lord Shiva answered their plea by slaying Dushan and then chose to reside in Ujjain in the form of Mahakal, as requested by the residents.

It is believed that Lord Bholenath adorned himself with the ashes of Dushan, which is why even today, Lord Shiva is adorned with ashes. It’s worth mentioning that this temple is unique in that it conducts aarti (ritual worship) for Lord Shiva six times a day. However, the day begins with the Bhasm Aarti, where Lord Shiva is adorned with ashes.

पुराणों में एक कहानी है कि उज्जैन के अवंती नगर में एक वेद प्रिय नामक ब्राह्मण रहते थे। एक दिन, वेद प्रिय अपने बेटों और अन्य धार्मिक आत्माओं के साथ पूजा-पाठ में लिन थे, तभी दूषण नामक एक असुर ने उन पर हमला किया। हालांकि यह हमला भयंकर था, लेकिन इस ब्राह्मण के पुत्रों और उनके साथी आत्माओं ने भगवान शिव में विश्वास किया और डरने का नाम नहीं लिया। जब असुर को लगा कि वे डरने वाले नहीं हैं, तो उसने विशेष शस्त्रों को उठाया।

इस समय, भगवान शिव स्वयं प्रकट हो गए और फिर उन्होंने दूषण को भस्म में बदल दिया। इसके बाद, वे अपने शरीर को दूषण की राख से सजाने लगे। इसी कारण, इस मंदिर का नाम महाकालेश्वर रखा गया। और इस शिवलिंग की भस्म से आरती की जाने लगी। इसके अलावा, भगवान शिव के भस्म को अपने शरीर पर लगाने के पीछे कुछ वैज्ञानिक और आध्यात्मिक कारण भी बताए गए हैं। यह भी दर्शाता है कि हमें अपने शरीर पर गर्व करने के बजाय अंतरात्मा की शुद्धि और आध्यात्मिक विकास के प्रति विश्वास करना चाहिए।

About Mahakal Bhasm Aarti : According to the scriptures, there is a story that in the city of Avanti in Ujjain, there lived a Brahmin named Vedapriya. One day, Vedapriya was engrossed in worship and rituals with his sons and other spiritual souls when a demon named Dushan attacked them. Despite the terrifying attack, the Brahmin’s sons and fellow spiritual beings had unwavering faith in Lord Shiva and did not fear. When the demon realized that they were not afraid, he raised his deadly weapons.

At that moment, Lord Shiva manifested himself, and he turned Dushan into ashes. Then, Lord Shiva adorned himself with the ashes, and that is why this temple came to be known as Mahakaleshwar. Aarti (ritual worship) with the ashes of Lord Shiva became a tradition at this temple. Besides this, there are scientific and spiritual reasons behind applying ashes to one’s body. This signifies that we should have faith in inner purity and spiritual development rather than taking pride in our physical appearance.

इस आरती में शामिल होने के लिए पुरुषों को केवल धोती पहननी होती है, वो भी साफ, स्वच्छ, और सूती की। पुरुष इस आरती को केवल देख सकते हैं और करने का अधिकार केवल इस मंदिर के पुजारियों को ही होता है। यहां यह बताया जाता है कि देशभर में यह एकमात्र ऐसा शिव मंदिर है जहां भगवान शिव की 6 बार आरती की जाती है, और हर आरती में भगवान शिव के एक नए स्वरूप के दर्शन होते हैं।

To participate in this Aarti, men are required to wear only a clean, pure, and cotton dhoti. Men can only witness this Aarti, and the right to perform it is reserved exclusively for the temple priests. It is worth mentioning that this is the only Shiva temple across the country where Lord Shiva’s Aarti is performed six times a day, and each Aarti offers a glimpse of a different manifestation of Lord Shiva.
